Zippay is a person-to-person payment service provided in collaboration by AIB, Bank of Ireland, and PTSB. With Zippay, you can send, request, and split payments directly by using a mobile phone number. No need for IBANs or to set up a new payee, the money will transfer between accounts, just like that.

A verified mobile number is one that has been confirmed by your bank as the mobile number associated with your banking account.
Because Zippay is accessed through your banking app, it comes with all the same high levels of security, protection, and digital safety provided by your bank. For more details, please go to your bank’s dedicated Zippay information page.
Your bank will automatically enrol you in Zippay if you are eligible and you’ll find it in your banking app once the service is launched. If you’d rather not have access to Zippay, that’s okay! You can opt out of Zippay at any time. If you opt out before October 28th 2025, you will not be enrolled in the service when it launches. Opting out is always an option, even after you’ve been enrolled in the service. And, if you change your mind, you can just opt back in. Simple. Yes, you can send up to €1,000 per day. Your bank’s transaction limits may also apply.
Yes, you can request up to €500 per individual request. You can have up to 30 payment requests open at any one time. Your bank’s transaction limits may also apply.
A payment request can be split with up to 30 recipients.
Payment requests that have not been accepted will expire after 30 calendar days.
Zippay uses information from your bank account including your name, verified mobile number, IBAN, and an encrypted combination of your date of birth and mobile number. This information is securely shared by your bank.
Additionally, Zippay will temporarily use the information below to assign your default account. Once your account is assigned, this information will be deleted by Zippay.
